Kona Baridi/Magadi Road/ Olorgesaille Prehistoric Site

Your first birding stop if the weather permits will be the Ngong Hills at Kona Baridi. From here, you have good views of the Great Rift Valley and Nairobi. Bird species expected here include Grassland Pipit, Fawn-colored Lark, Yellow-crowned Bishop, Stout Cisticola and Augur Buzzard may be encountered. As you start going downhill, the vegetation change to more acacia bushes and woodland. You can make around 3 or more stops for birding along the road where you can do bit of walking. Here you get a glimpse of bird species like Black-throated and Red-fronted Barbet, Red-fronted Tinkerbird, Blue-naped Mousebird, Banded Parisoma, White-bellied Canary, Eastern Pale Chanting Goshawk, African Grey and Von der Decken’s Hornbill, Southern Grosbeak Canary, Green-winged Pytilia, Grey Wren Warbler, African Grey Flycatcher, Abyssinian Black (Schalow’s) Wheatear, Rattling Cisticola and Black-necked Weaver, Straw-tailed, Paradise, Steel-blue and Pin-tailed Whydah, Chestnut Weavers, Taita Fiscal, Grey-capped Social Weavers, Emerald-spotted Wood and African Mourning Dove, Grey-headed and African Silverbill, Blue-capped Cordon-bleu, Beautiful, Eastern Violet-backed and Scarlet-chested Sunbird, Chestnut Sparrows, Red-and-Yellow Barbet, Somali Golden-breasted Bunting and Yellow-spotted Petronia
