Day 1:

Entebbe to Queen Elizabeth National Park Depart early from Entebbe and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This park is a birder’s paradise with over 600 bird species recorded. On arrival, take a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, which offers great birdwatching opportunities, including the African Fish Eagle, Great White and Pink-backed Pelicans, and the African Skimmer. After the boat cruise, go for an evening game drive to see other wildlife such as elephants, lions, and buffalos.

Day 2:

Queen Elizabeth National Park Spend the whole day birdwatching in Queen Elizabeth National Park. The park offers a variety of habitats, including grasslands, forests, wetlands, and savannas, which attract different bird species. Look out for special birds such as the African Green Broadbill, the Papyrus Gonolek, the African Finfoot, the Shoebill, and the Martial Eagle. You may also see other wildlife such as hippos, crocodiles, and antelopes.

Day 3:

Queen Elizabeth National Park to Entebbe After breakfast, go for a morning game drive in the park to see any missed wildlife and bird species. Depart from the park and drive back to Entebbe, stopping at the Mabamba Swamp to search for the elusive Shoebill, which is found in the papyrus swamps. Other birds to look out for include the Purple Swamphen, the Allen’s Gallinule, and the White-faced Whistling Duck. Arrive in Entebbe in the late afternoon.

This itinerary can be customized to your preferences, and you may also add more days to explore other birdwatching sites in Uganda, such as Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, and Kibale Forest National Park. Additionally, it’s always a good idea to bring a bird guidebook, binoculars, and a camera with a good zoom lens to enhance your birdwatching experience.
