14 Days Birdwatching Tour

Day 1:

Arrival in Arusha Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Arusha. Spend the rest of the day relaxing and acclimatizing to the altitude.

Day 2-3:

Arusha National Park Spend two full days exploring Arusha National Park, which is home to over 400 bird species, including some endemic and near-endemic species such as the Tanzania Red-billed Hornbill, the Abbott’s Starling, and the Schalow’s Turaco. Look out for raptors such as the African Crowned Eagle and the Martial Eagle, and enjoy birdwatching opportunities in the montane forest, grassland, and wetland habitats.

Day 4-5:

Tarangire National Park Drive to Tarangire National Park, which is known for its large herds of elephants and a diversity of bird species. Spend two full days exploring the park and looking for special birds such as the Yellow-collared Lovebird, the Ashy Starling, and the Rufous-tailed Weaver. Other interesting species include the Greater Kestrel, the Secretarybird, and the Lilac-breasted Roller.

Day 6-7:

Lake Manyara National Park Drive to Lake Manyara National Park, which is famous for its tree-climbing lions and a variety of bird species. Spend two full days exploring the park and looking for special birds such as the Lesser Flamingo, the Pink-backed Pelican, and the African Spoonbill. Other interesting species include the Narina Trogon, the Crowned Hornbill, and the Red-capped Robin Chat.

Day 8-10:

Serengeti National Park Drive to Serengeti National Park, one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife reserves. Spend three full days exploring the park and looking for special birds such as the Grey-breasted Spurfowl, the Kori Bustard, and the Secretarybird. Other interesting species include the Fischer’s Lovebird, the Yellow-throated Sandgrouse, and the White-headed Buffalo Weaver. Take game drives in the park and enjoy birdwatching opportunities in the acacia woodlands and grasslands.

Day 11-12:

Ngorongoro Crater Drive to Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best places in Tanzania to see the rare and endangered Eastern Black Rhino. Spend two full days exploring the crater and looking for special birds such as the Rufous-tailed Weaver, the Hildebrandt’s Francolin, and the Rosy-breasted Longclaw. Other interesting species include the Lammergeier, the Verreaux’s Eagle, and the African Finfoot.

Day 13-14:

Selous Game Reserve Fly to Selous Game Reserve, the largest game reserve in Africa and a birdwatcher’s paradise. Spend two full days exploring the reserve and looking for special birds such as the African Skimmer, the Pel’s Fishing Owl, and the Rufous-bellied Heron. Other interesting species include the Lilian’s Lovebird, the African Green Pigeon, and the Retz’s Helmetshrike. Enjoy game drives, boat safaris, and guided walks in the reserve.

Day 15:

Departure Transfer to Dar es Salaam International Airport for your departure flight.
